Teachers & Parents

Welcome to our fun resource on invention and innovation!

This highly interactive site offers you an easy to use and effective teaching tool on invention and innovation. Used in conjunction with a curriculum component or as a 'free-time' learning opportunity, the site provides a wealth of valuable and previously unknown information that adds to your students' knowledge base.

As well, students now have the opportunity of learning about Canadian female inventors and their inventions. The information contained in this site is drawn from a two-year research project conducted across Canada. The Federal government through the Millennium Partnership Program and Heritage Canada, and the Provincial governments of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Prince Edward Island supported the project.

A wonderful companion book, Canadian Women Invent! can be ordered through this site. The book is a welcome addition to school libraries and classrooms. How many times have you looked for resources that provide a balanced view of science and technology to both your female and male students? Look no further. Canadian Women Invent! provides that balance.

This site is linked to www.inventivewomen.com, where you will find detailed biographies of more than 80 Canadian female inventors in the Library. The profiles are suitable for students in grades 7 through high school.
